Stoughton Boys Basketball offers a variety of competition levels for boys in 3rd through 8th grade.
Our teams compete in the Badger Development League (BDL) from grades 3 - 8. The BDL hosts between 4-6 weekends of games per year and an end-of-season tournament in area communities. Almost all sites are less than 45 minutes from Stoughton. Our teams also compete in several additional tournaments throughout the year. For more information about the BDL, go to www.badgerdleague.com
The Stoughton Boys Basketball Association is the official program of Stoughton Boys Basketball. We offer programming for Boys from 3rd grade through 8th grade and offer support to our High School team.
It goes without saying that there are more questions than answers as we approach what would normally be the start of SBBA registration and September preseason "skills and drills" sessions. The SBBA Board remains committed to exploring our programming options based on what is permitted by Dane County under its COVID-19 restrictions.
Based upon what we do know at this time, SBBA plans to open a no-fee registration option so that families are able to indicate their interest in participating in basketball opportunities, should we be able to offer them safely. This no-fee registration opportunity does not commit your child to participate, and there will be another opportunity to register later, if/when we determine we are able to practice and compete. This no-fee registration is designed to allow easy communication with interested families, potentially on short notice, in the event we are able to begin practicing and/or competing when COVID-19 orders change. Program fees would be assessed later based on the scope of opportunities SBBA can offer.
SBBA’s approach is based on the following:
Currently, basketball games and contact practices are not permitted by the Public Health of Dane County and Madison. Any practices in Dane County would require physical distancing of 6ft' and a gathering of fewer than 10 people with the required use of masks by players and coaches at all times.
Stoughton Area School District has decided to begin the school year virtually and we have not yet received any plan for gym availability this fall. SASD has understandably been focused on making plans for high school athletics.
The Badger Developmental League, as of their most recent communication, is still preparing for a season; however, the statewide mask mandate and many school districts opting for virtual school may delay or prevent BDL from scheduling.
SBBA is closely monitoring the situation and hoping for the best, with the goal of providing quality, safe basketball programming to our players. We will communicate any developments.
Congrats to Coach Nolan Weber and the High School basketball program on their Badger Conference South Championship!
The 7th grade boys team, coached by Ben Richter, Robb Knauf, and Tim Strandlie, won the February 1st, 2020 at Just A Game in Wisconsin Dells. Team members are Kyler Knauf, Ashton Clausen, Ethan Strandlie, Drew Viney, Jay Johnson, Kaeson Salonek, Carter Sullivan, Casey Quam, and Mason Richter.
SBBA is dedicated to developing player’s basketball skills while creating a fun, safe, and equitable environment that enables both individuals and teams to excel on and off the court.
SBBA will coach participants, at all levels, to develop their basketball and personal skills through participation in basketball drills, practices, league games, and tournaments.
All participants will have access to quality coaching, facilities, equipment, practice time, and other resources to enhance their experience.
The schedule below is tentative. We are aware the schedule might change and will update it as we learn more information.
